History
7-Eleven is an American Multinational retail convenience store chain, headquartered in Dallas, Texas. 7-Eleven was established in 1927 as an Icehouse storefront and was named Tote’m Stores. In 1991, A Japanese affiliate Ito-Yokado acquired 70% of the company and reorganized it as a fully owned subsidiary of Seven & I holdings, and its name changed to 7-Eleven.
As for the beverage, the Slurpee, it was discovered by Omar Knedlik inventor of the frozen beverages machine. The thought of slushed ice cream came accidentally when Omar’s soda fountain broke down and he put his soda in the freezer to keep them cool, but due to this, soda turned slushy and the customers thoroughly enjoyed it. Which gave him an idea to make slushy carbonated beverages.
