Texas School Shooting happened on 24 May 2022, in which an eighteen-year-old boy killed students and teachers. However, the motives behind the said shooting are unknown to everyone. Eventually, the discussion heated up on the American gun culture and violence, gridlock in politics, and law enforcement’s failure. Some demanded a ban on president Joe Biden.
In the recent case of the Texas School Shooting, CCTV footage of the crime day came into surveillance. All the incidents happened hitherto, and Texas police are looking into it. In the massive shooting at Uvalde, Texas, the United States, nineteen students, and two teachers were shot dead. Moreover, Seventeen others were wounded severely.
How did The Texas School Shooting unfold?
On the morning of 24 May, a young man named Salvador Ramos had an argument with his grandmother over electricity bills before he shot her in the face and picked up her truck, reaching Robb Elementary School at 11:28 a.m. CDT (UTC–5). Ramos entered the school premises and started firing bullets on classroom doors from her grandmother’s Black 2008 Ford F-150. Soon after hearing about the shooting and truck crashing, a teacher called the police officers informing and ensuring students got into the classes. After calling 9-1-1, the teacher enters the school through its west entrance door and shuts it. The door remains unlocked because the lock worked from the outside. Ramos entered the school premises and started firing bullets at 11:33 a.m. in classrooms 111 and 112. He shots 400 bullets.
Around 11:36 a.m. UCISD Chief Arredondo, another UCISD officer, and two UPD officers enter the school through its south entrance door within five seconds of the first three UPD officers’ entry. After the hour-long hustle, in the return firing, officers killed Ramos around 12:50.
Reportedly, all dead students were from the 3rd and 4th grades. Even the teachers were from the same classrooms. They told students to hide and fall asleep under the bench. However, Ramos fired at times to ensure that he reached the targets. Hence, killing students from the same grades. Almost 11 students hiding in the classroom 111 and 112 were dead. Moreover, the Survivors of the Robb Elementary School Shooting say he played Sad Music while loading fires. Although, there are not enough reports regarding the mental health problems of the texas school shooting killer.
As of 9 June 2022, Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan said, “We still do not have an accurate picture of what exactly happened in Uvalde.”
Memorials and Tributes
After the Texas school shooting, a memorial outside the school for the victims and survivors with balloons, candles, and crosses. A local man made 21 crosses inscribed with the names of victims. It is placed outside the school. Local people added memorials for the deceased victims throughout Uvalde. Moreover, Those who drove into the city to honor the victims created additional memorials. Other tributes were held throughout the country. The local and state businesses offered free headstones and funeral services to victims’ families. State and locally-based food trucks and restaurant owners traveled to Uvalde, offering food and supplies for families affected by the shooting. To honor each of the 21 victims, the San Antonio Zoo announced they would light up their parking garage red, Robb Elementary school’s color, for 21 days.
