Metaverse or Fictional Universe is a concept that was developed in 1992 to define the world of fictional web characters. Eventually, Metaverse had already been a part of the fictional world of the game Second Life. In the Metaverse, users create a virtual world that mimics aspects of the physical world. Additionally, it uses technologies like virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), AI, social media, and digital currency. Not for the first time, Facebook changed its name to Meta in 2021. Metaverse has been part of the world since the Second life. In a recent interview, Mark Zuckerberg, chair of Facebook (now known as Meta), said that he might be creating a Metaverse universe or working on it.

When and How did Metaverse Came?

Neal Stephenson’s 1992 science fiction novel Snow Crash gave us the new term Metaverse. In this novel of his, humans work as programmable avatars and interact with each other and software agents. This three-dimensional virtual space uses the metaphor of the real world. Stephenson termed it to describe virtual reality. The world is refined more accurately with 100-meter-wide roads and streets, and real-estate buildings that evoke the urban fictional life. As per the internet resources, It spans the entire 65,536 km (216 km) circumference of a featureless, black, perfectly spherical planet. Within this world, individual users appear as avatars of any form, with the sole restriction of height. Transport within the Metaverse is limited to by foot or vehicle. The monorail is a vehicle that runs the entire length of the Street. It stops at 256 Express Ports, located evenly at 256 km intervals, and Local Ports, one kilometer apart.

Another World Of Metaverse realities is depicted in Ready Player One, a dystopian science fiction franchise created by Ernest Cline. It shows a shared VR landscape called The OASIS. The first novel was released in 2011, with a 2018 film adaptation, and the second novel in 2020.

In 2045, the world is gripped by an energy crisis and global warming that causes widespread social problems and economic stagnation. People start looking for escape and find a primary source that shares a VR landscape called The OASIS. People can only access it with a VR headset and wired gloves. The OASIS functions as a massively multiplayer online role-playing game and a virtual society.

Metaverse web 3.0 or web 3

The latest edition of the fictional world works on metaverse web 3.0 or web 3, coined by Polkadot founder and Ethereum co-founder Gavin Wood in 2014. More recently, web 3 or 3.0 had made headlines when the New York Times reported a betting of $27 million. Nevertheless, the system is gaining attention to be the future of data security, scalability, and privacy in the world of the internet. Meantime, it has become a decentralized online system that works on blockchains that might be useful. But critics don’t think so. Yes, they said it trashes the reality to stop harassment, cybercrime, and the spread of child abuse images. But the technology is called a collection that strips the fictional universe.
